A Biased Review of Data Entry Jobs and Fast Online Money

There are many offers made for data entry jobs and easy data entry jobs. The trouble with most of them is that they appeal more to your desire for a quick income solution than to common sense. A recent offer made on Google Baraza has an online data entry job FAQ that has these parameters. You can earn 2000USD plus this month. They then go on to explain that in their data entry jobs you earn 30cents for filling in a simple form such as you would for gmail or yahoo. You can earn the 2000USD by working an hour or two online daily, and you can fill in a form in one to two minutes. Sounds easy right? Now let us crunch those figures and see what we get.

In this particular data entry job, you are to fill in a form that will take you about a minute or two to fill. If we use the slowest typist as our unit of measure who fills in a form in two minutes, we are reasonably saying you
can fill thirty forms in an hour. If you are to be paid 30cents per form (and they do not give the error rate) then we are saying for working for two hours daily, you can reasonably (with a 10% error) submit 60 forms less six to make provision for an extremely low error margin. In my experience, the average non-professional typist has about a 30% error rate.

For the 54 forms that you fill in this data entry job offer, you will be paid 30cents per form, which then translates to 1620 cents, or 16.2 dollars in a day. That then translates to a maximum of 384 dollars per month. In my opinion, this is significantly different from 2000USD. The payment for these jobs is the more you work, the more you earn. Therefore, if you are aiming at the 2,000USD per month mark, you are saying that you need 123.5 days. However, let us say you do really need the money, you would be willing to add more hours of work to your day to hit the 2000USD mark. That being the case, you would then need to work 10 hours a day. If you do work ten hours a day, then is this a part time job or a full time job?

Since this is a biased review, I will add this; unless you are incredibly desperate, it is not only tedious, but tremendously harrowing to type in data on a form for ten hours straight. If you add external factors like internet speeds, reading time, and sending time, it then becomes virtually impossible to do a form in two minutes. You are looking at about 4 minutes. Therefore working at ten hours per day including Saturday, you can only reasonably earn 32USD per month. It is the mathematics of time, accuracy and  personal reasonable levels of availability that do you in when you take up most of those data entry jobs.
